(Live stream) Opera, concert en ballet, theater

De opera- en balletvoorstellingen, met live-streams vanuit de theaters in Parijs en Milaan, Barcelona, Berlijn en Bayreuth zijn weer hervat. Vanaf 2021 waren de openingsavonden van de Bayreuther Festspiele met uitvoeringen van Wagners “Der fliegende Holländer”, “Götterdämmerung” en “Parsifal” mee te beleven.
In 2022 was “Platée” van Jean-Philippe Rameau live te zien op het grote doek, en in het najaar “The Capulets and the Montagues” en “Salome”. Begin 2023 stond “Tosca” in de uitvoering van de Nationale Opera Amsterdam op het programma.

Ballet-uitvoeringen waren er van “Notre Dame de Paris”, Maurice Béjart en De Notenkraker

Live uitvoering van Massenet’s opera Don Quixote rechtsreeks vanuit de Opéra Bastille in Parijs o.l.v. Mikhail Tatarnikov met het Paris national Opera Orchestra en Chorus. Naar het gelijknamige boek van Miguel de Cervantes en het toneelstuk Le chevalier de la longue figure van Jacques Le Lorrain. Soliste:: Marianne Crebassa, Ildar Abdrazakov e.a.

Jules Massenet’s last opera, created in 1910 for the Russian bass Chaliapine, is back on the Paris Opera stage where it has not been performed for over 20 years. The composer retained only a few of the main emblematic episodes of Cervantes’ lavish novel: Don Quixote’s love for Dulcinea, his knightly ways that lead him to pursue brigands in order to recover her necklace, his battle with the windmills and his death as he lies beside his servant Sancho Panza. Inspired by this refined and moving music, director Damiano Michieletto’s new production seeks to reveal the poetry of Don Quixote, but also his suffering. That of a deeply lonely man, haunted by his memories.

Summer concert Berliner Philharmoniker: Mahler’s Sixth (live uit Berlijn)

“The Sixth is his most personal work and a prophetic one at that” – said Gustav Mahler’s wife Alma. And in fact, with its apocalyptic tonal language, which is only temporarily lightened, the symphony seems to anticipate Mahler’s great personal catastrophes: the diagnosis of a heart condition, the death of his daughter, and professional failures. It is music that looks into the abyss. Gustavo Dudamel, one of the world’s most popular conductors, presents this performance and has already performed Mahler symphonies on several occasions with the Berliner Philharmoniker.
